The incumbent will help in analyzing information and determining if appointments have been scheduled, assessing recurrence risks, and recommending medical or genetic testing based upon analysis of risk, benefit, and cost.**Essential Job Duties:**+ Ensures proper completion of counseling paperwork.+ Interacts and communicates consistently with the medical geneticist(s).+ Responsible for the communication of results and coordinating necessary follow-up with medical geneticist.+ May provide case management for complex genetic cases, including coordinating medical recommendations, testing, and ongoing counseling.+ Provides crisis intervention and psychosocial counseling regarding genetic conditions; makes referrals for ongoing care and support.+ Acts as consultant to referring physicians regarding highly specialized genetic information pertinent to the management of their patients.+ Participates in routine staff meetings; works to establish her/himself as a team member, providing coverage for colleagues as appropriate.+ Provides genetic counseling in accordance w/applicable standards of professional care, e.g., compliance with GDB/AFP Program regulations.+ Frequents continuous education courses, participates in meetings, and reviews medical literature.

Stays current in GC field.**Education:**+ Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling.**License/Certifications:**+ ABGC eligible or certified (or equivalent).+ Expected to obtain ABGC/ABMG certification.**Experience:**+ New graduate with zero to two (0-2) years experience in genetic counseling.+ Ability to work independently.+ Demonstrates refined analytic and diagnostic reasoning skills.+ Ability to clearly explain complex medical information in both verbal and written form.+ Demonstrates organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.+ Computer experience, preferred.+ Bilingual skills, a plus.Cedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
