Discuss classroom lesson plans and learning activities with teacher/specialist to implement instructional programs and supports for all Emergent Bilinguals (English Learners)Work individually or with small groups of Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) to support access to lesson content in a variety of academic subjects based on teacher’s request (circulation, one-on-one in classroom, small group in classroom)Communicate with students in English and a designated second language to facilitate instructional processesWork with a small group of Emergent Bilinguals during a core or elective course by pushing in or pulling out EBs to provide targeted designated instruction.

Review assessment results and other data to report progress regarding student’s language performance as required; provide input and assist instructors with determining student advancement through established monitoring programs (Ellevation).Complete the certification requirements to proctor the yearly English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC)Support with the school’s implementation of the yearly English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC)Provide translation in parent-teacher conferences or telephone calls with limited or non-English speaking parents; translate or write notes, letters and other materials.Observe and report behavior of students in and out of the classroom and support with implementing the school’s behavior policyUse a variety of technology platforms and applications to support student learningAssist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidanceAssure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and proceduresParticipate in meetings, in-service training programs and field trips as assignedMaintain regular attendancePerform other duties as assignedDemonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively as an educational team member QUALIFICATIONSConsistent with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002 and other related legislation, candidates for this classification must meet the following standards: Possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) AND one of the following:* Completion of at least two years of college (48 semester units or 90 quarter units), OR* Attainment of an AA (or higher) degree OR* Passage of the CA Spanish Language Instructional Assistance Test Bilingual in English and Spanish is required You possess strong skills in MS Word and Excel You are able to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written forums.

You have excellent interpersonal skills You have six months experience working with adolescents/children in a structured environment (experience working with adolescents/children requiring a specialized learning environment is preferred, and verifiable supervised experience as a volunteer in a school or related organizational activity may be substituted on an equal basis) Any other combination of training an experience that could likely provide the desired skills, knowledge or abilities may be considered, however, experience cannot substitute for the required minimum education and a willingness to work collaboratively as an educational team member The information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor is it intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to perform the job.

COMPENSATIONThe hourly rate for this position is $15.00-16.05 per hour, based on education and experience.
