Gabriella Charter Schools is composed of two high-performing, dance-themed charter schools in the Los Angeles community.

GCS 1 serves grades K-8 and is located in the community of Echo Park.

GCS 2 opened as a K-2 school in 2017, growing a grade level each year, and is located in the community of Historic South Central.

Position Overview
Job Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: GCS2
Reports to: Expanded Learning Program Site Coordinator
Compensation: $18.00 per hour, accrued sick leave

Summary: Reporting to the site-based Expanded Learning Program Site Coordinator, the expanded learning program instructor supports students of Gabriella Charter Schools by providing structured homework assistance and a variety of enrichment activities that support school-day learning.

Program instructors will play a vital role in reinforcing the school’s culture and expectations through diligent student supervision and by creating a safe learning environment that supports positive peer relationships.

This is a non-exempt, classified, hourly, part-time position.

The ideal candidate is a highly personable, systematic, and extremely organized individual who deeply believes in the Gabriella Charter Schools model and is committed to helping build an expanded learning program culture where all students reach their highest potential.
Responsibilities

Instruction
Create lesson plans for fun, active and skill-based learning activities both indoors and outdoors.
Supervise and support students with homework assistance and/or academic intervention.
Lead students through all program components according to the program schedule including: sign in and out, snack, outdoor recreation, enrichment activities, homework time, group games, special events, etc.

Ensure that classroom and program spaces are clean, organized and safe.
Record and maintain daily attendance and other documentation as required in a timely manner.
School Culture
Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times
Establish and maintain a positive and enthusiastic learning environment.
Use positive behavior and classroom management techniques with children.
Communicate and work effectively with students, staff and parents.
Miscellaneous
Other duties as assigned by the Expanded Learning Site Coordinator and/or school leaders that support instructional excellence at Gabriella Charter Schools

Ability to manage large groups of students
Consistent availability through June 2022
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact and forge relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members

Schools
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Education and Experience
Educational Requirement
ü High school diploma or GED and one of the following: ü Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university OR Associate’s degree from a recognized college or university OR Completion of 48 semester units or 72 quarter units from a recognized college or university OR Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction
Experience working with children in a structured setting (grades K-8)
The knowledge and background to lead one or more enrichment clubs (sports, STEM, arts, etc.)

COVID-19 considerations:
Staff are required to be vaccinated, wear masks, remain socially distanced and participate in our COVID-19 surveillance testing program.

We are a co-located with an LAUSD school campus.

As such, we must comply with the district’s vaccination policy that requires all staff physically working on campus to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
