Front Desk Rockreation Los Angeles is an indoor rock climbing gym. MUST BE PROFICIENT WITH BELAYING AND HAVE EXPERIENCE. IF YOU DON’T LIST AND EXPLAIN YOUR EXPERIENCE WE WILL NOT CONSIDER YOU. The Desk Staff are responsible for providing excellent customer service, communicating gym policies and procedures to all clientele, and ensuring that all policies are being enforced. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Hours: • This is a part-time position. • This is a non exempt position. • 12-24 hours per week • 2-3 desk shifts per week (2 weekday shifts M-F, 2 weekend shifts per month) Qualification Requirements: • Friendly and enthusiastic. • Customer service and sales experience. • Excellent communication and ability to work with a wide range of personalities. • Knowledge of indoor climbing procedures and practices. • Risk management, safety, and floor supervision. • Previous climbing gym work experience (and use of Rock Gym Pro preferred). • Ability to supervise facility, follow, and enforce rules and regulations. • Display good judgement aligned with enforcing company policies. • Must be a competent climber. • Ability to teach beginners. • Ability to work with children. • Ability to work some evenings/weekends. • Good administrative skills and ability to enter and review membership contracts. • Punctual, dependable, and reliable. • 1 years of climbing experience (indoors or out). Weekly Responsibilities: • Communicate policies, procedures, safety requirements, and enforce all gym policies. • Monitor TR and Lead climbing wall and boulder area to ensure safety of all climbers. • Provide general instruction on climbing techniques in a fun and engaging way during open hours and group events. • Give belay checks including all necessary documentation. • Explain climbing equipment, techniques, and safety methods. • Instruct climbing classes including basic belaying, lead climbing/belaying, and technique based classes. • Maintain climbing equipment. Including, but not limited to: cleaning equipment, holds, ropes, route tags, etc. • Ability to open/close the facility. • Must be able to stand for up to 6 hours with breaks. • Other duties as assigned. Physical Responsibilities: • Must be able to stand for 3-4 hours. • TR and Lead Belay proficient. • Must be able to work in loud environments. • Must be able to scan and watch different areas of the facility. • Must be able to walk around and stand on uneven surfaces. • Must be able to work at height and with others in climber rescue scenarios.
