Critical to a startup’s ability to succeed in bringing problem-solving solutions to market is wise financial decision making. Tight accounting and financial operations are paramount to enabling Mira to scale in an aggressive, yet responsible manner. Mira is looking for a savvy, analytical, and experienced Finance Manager to oversee all internal accounting and financial responsibilities.
While being detail-oriented is key, this individual should have the interest to zoom in on minute aspects of accounting and also the experience to zoom out to formulate and manage the company’s master financial model. This individual will play a strategic role for forecasting, business planning, and business analytics activities. We are seeking a true hands-on, yet strategic finance manager who can oversee the tools and processes to help us scale for the future.
You Are:
- Experienced in managing the financial systems for a Series A (or later) startup
- Well-versed in financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and experienced with month-end and year-end closing
- Highly detail oriented and meticulous about cash management
- Able to focus on the big picture, while also a lover for the minute details
- Experienced in building from scratch sophisticated financial models and reports providing in-depth analysis for management including monthly Actuals vs. Forecast / Budget, Risks & Opportunities
- Familiar with finance operations for hardware production and AP for a global supply chain
- Capable of delivering accurate work on tight timelines

Responsibilities:
- Working with Mira’s COO to manage all of Mira’s finance, accounting, and tax functions
- Partner with sales leadership on a monthly basis to understand Risks & Opportunities that impact both the near-term financial model and Long Range Planning (1-3 years)
- Working with hardware operations to assist in Purchase Order issuance and Accounts Payable for Mira’s global supply chain
- Driving the month-end close process, including reconciliations and consolidation
- Working with the executive team to build out financial models to drive company-wide decision making
- Monitor Sales organization performance and rewards (quota attainment, commission payouts)
- Develop a comprehensive set of internal controls and budgets to mitigate financial risk
- Ensure that all systems and reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Analyze spending and assist in cost control
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal authorities, including the timely filing of annual returns.
- Create, document and continuously improve all accounting processes
- Interfacing with external accounting and audit firms, including providing assistance in the preparation of related tax returns and associated reports such as property, payroll, and sales/use taxes
Requirements:
- 4+ years of FP&A responsibilities (years may be substituted with investment banking, private equity or accounting experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
- Past experience working in an early-stage startup, ideally one that has a hardware product
- Strong attention to detail and ability to develop and maintain complex financial models
- Highly proficient in MS Excel, including for the creation and maintenance of complex financial models with nested sub-models
- Articulate and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and across departments
