What’s the Role About:
As a member of the Research and Development team, the Firmware Engineer will assist in the design process in numerous ways.
The Firmware Engineer will work alongside talented engineers and designers creating and maintaining embedded control and communication software, interfacing with manufacturing partners, developing and performing verification testing, diagnosing problems in design, validation, and mass-production stages, and collaborating with EEs to ensure a successful product.
This role requires a passion for technical problem solving, organization, and system design, while always looking for ways to improve product functionality, usability, and manufacturability.
Some things you will be responsible for:
- Evaluating suitability and interoperability of electronic components
- Implementing firmware components and applications
- Maintaining and improving firmware on existing products
- Conducting comprehensive root-cause analysis on failures and devising solutions
- Planning, improving and managing software applications from inception to use
- Effectively communicating relevant results both orally and in written form
- Working closely with project leads, engineers, and designers from initial concept through execution and refinement
Some qualifications and skills we need you to have:
- College degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- 3+ years’ experience working as an engineer or scientist, ideally working with electromechanical devices
- Strong proficiency and rapid learning with various microcontrollers and software architectures
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated organization and data management skills
- Thrive in fast paced and creative environments
- Passion for innovating industry trends through product development
- Experience with embedded programming (hard real-time experience preferred)
- Proficient in C/C++ and Python; JavaScript/TypeScript experience is a plus
