Field Service Engineer – Military Veterans

MILITARY VETERANS

As this global company continues to grow, they are recruiting for Field Service Engineer roles at locations across the country. In this position you will be installing, operating, maintaining, repairing and modifying electromechanical equipment, in the field. You will troubleshoot technical problems and systems issues and determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications and recommend actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.

Field Engineers conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to their product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. This position will also require you to assess customer needs and recommend solutions, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must have.

You will also conduct technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives as needed and act as local on-site representative to customer’s organization. You will manage all territory responsibilities, including preventive maintenance and upgrades on software and hardware. This position requires the individual to provide service support in a hospital/clinic laboratory environment. They need team players who are self-motivated and able to interact appropriately with peers, sales counterparts, and customers.

During your first few months in training could be 50 -75% overnight travel. Most locations have overnight travel at 20% or a little more. Most of your clients will be within driving distance and you will be home most nights. At times you may need to stay overnight depending on job and distance from home. At times you will fly to other locations to assist or for training.

You will receive a company vehicle (Van) that you can use for personal use.

In this role you will visit a different customer every day. No two days are the same. Start your day from home, an occasional overnight stay away from home but you are home for dinner more often than not. If your territory is quiet, no calls or PMs are pending; there is always a teammate that could use some help, just as they will offer help when the reverse is true. Some days are reactive to customer calls that come in and some days are planned for conducting proactive activity.

The client’s equipment usually resides in hospital laboratories. They are software driven with internal CPUs. The units contain electronic and mechanical components that are driven electronically and some have pneumatics.

All the newer units (along with some older ones) have remote monitoring capabilities, which are monitored by our state-of-the-art Predictive Monitoring Center in Rochester, NY. They can monitor equipment performance and look for system issues and, in some cases, address an issue before it impacts the customer. Field Engineers have the ability to access the system from their iPads and Laptops to examine trends and look for other potential issues before each service call.

The ideal candidates will have the ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams. They will also have mechanical skill sets, as a majority of the repairs will be on the mechanical side. The client believes that the solution does not stop at the equipment. In some cases, the customer needs attention as well. Having said that, strong communication skills are just as necessary in order to resolve all issues, and to ultimately have a 100% satisfied customer.

It is important to note that our analyzers will have bodily fluids in them, such as blood. Safety protocol must be followed, so attention to detail is important. The likelihood of coming in contact with a blood product is remote, but the potential to come in contact is there. Safety is the number one priority, so you will be trained in the proper use of PPE to mitigate and potential health and safety issues.
