WHAT YOU’LL DO:

We are seeking a Family Services Specialist to provide mental health skills-based rehabilitation services to children and adolescents in coordination with inter and intra-agency treatment team members and across various community-based settings.

To work collaboratively with any identified Child and Family Team (CFT) and deliver professional services that are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and as outlined in the client’s treatment plan(s).

Must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 (exemptions or accommodations will be considered for medical reasons or religious belief/practice).

Wayfinder will consider candidates who can present evidence of completion of a one-dose vaccine regimen or first dose of a two-dose vaccine and proof of appointment for second-dose vaccine regime on or before employment start date.

This is a non-exempt position that reports directly to the Asst.

Director of Campus Safety and Program Support.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Adhere to the LA County Department of Mental Health (LAC-DMH) vision, practice principals, and steps of the Child and Family Team (CFT) process consistent with the Core Practice Model.
Contribute to the development of the Client Treatment Plan (CTP) and provide strength-based interventions to the client and family in a timely and professional manner within their home/out-of-home placements, as well as their respective communities.
Attend and participate in regularly scheduled CFT meetings within the home, community, and/or other community-based settings.
Work collaboratively with the client, family, therapist, treatment team members, identified Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) personnel, school staff, and all other inter and intra-agency personnel in order to provide services towards objectives identified in the CTP, including Targeted Case Management (TCM/ICC), Rehabilitative (IHBS), Collateral, Crisis Intervention.
Maintain and promote the principles of the Core Practice Model, including the identification of client and family strengths, providing services in a timely and appropriate manner, and coordinating services with team members, clients, families, service providers, and community resource personnel.
Meet face-to-face with each assigned client to provide mental health rehabilitation services that are individualized, within his/her scope of practice, and consistent with Wayfinder’s department of mental health services policy and procedure manual standards and guidelines.

Such services are inclusive of anger management, social, communication, and daily living skills.
Adhere to LAC-DMH and Wayfinder’s mental health services policy and procedures for the billing and documentation practices related to any and all services provided under Early Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) funding, and maintains productivity expectations.
Demonstrate professional and effective communication abilities, including the completion of written reports, letters, and plans, initiating verbal communications with clients, families, the CFT, and inter and intra-agency personnel, and exhibits an ongoing ability to engage formal and informal supports on behalf of clients and families.
Able to establish and maintain appropriate rapport with children, adolescents, families, inter and intra-agency personnel, and regulatory bodies.
Provide services to clients and families in a manner that is culturally competent and adheres to the philosophy, mission, and vision of Wayfinder.

Understand and uphold best practices and trauma-informed services in an effort to meet the needs of abused, neglected, and struggling children/families, and inspire the qualities necessary for children and families to succeed.
Assume responsibility for on-call duty assignments and attending to crisis intervention services.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field plus two (2) years of experience in a mental health setting as a specialist in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field plus four (4) years of experience in a mental health setting as a specialist in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment.

OR
Associates degree plus six (6) years of experience in a mental health setting as a specialist in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment required.
Experience working high-risk children, adolescents, adults, and/or families within the Wraparound, Mental Health, Educational, Child Welfare, and/or Juvenile Probation systems required.
Bilingual: (English/Spanish), preferred.
Must meet eligibility requirements to bill for Medi-Cal services.
Willingness and ability to make frequent field visits, attend meetings, conferences, and other job-related events away from headquarters.
