Family Care Specialist (Organ Donation)

This position requires travel to partnering hospitals throughout the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.

The Family Care Specialist is a key member of the operation team and represents OneLegacy to the families of potential donors, clinical and hospital staff and to the communities OneLegacy serves.

Responsibilities of the Family Care Specialist include: Serve as a subject matter expert to potential donor families on the process of organ donation and recovery; Providing support to grieving families, while advocating for the potential donor and recipients; Obtaining authorization for organ donation and completing patient history; Referring donor families to appropriate internal and external resources, and; collaborating with OneLegacy and hospital staff to obtain an optimal outcome for donor families.

Qualifications: C andidates with the following experience will be considered: medical/clinical background such as working in child protective services, patient advocacy, domestic violence or abuse, crisis intervention, interpreters or similar experience working in a healthcare setting.
Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree or one (1) year applicable Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) experience preferred.

Excellent verbal and written skills are essential, as well as competency in Microsoft Office.

Strong preference for bilingual Spanish-English candidates.

A current California driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable automotive transportation is required.
