For the 4th year in a row, Aspirus was recognized as one of the top 15 Top Health Systems in the United States by IBM Watson in their annual study identifying the top-performing health systems in the country based on overall organizational performance.This position is eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonusWe are seeking a FACILITY OUTPATIENT CODER, with primary focus on Ambulatory Surgery & Interventional Cardiology Coding.This individual has the ability to work at any Aspirus facility or remote.
This individual will assign ICD, CPT codes based on a review of the health care record documentation and application of professional coding standards and billing regulations.
Review and collects various health information data elements for patient care, statistical, financial and research purposes.
Maintains confidentiality of health information.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Reviews outpatient health records and assigns ICD diagnosis and procedure codes according to professional practice standards to insure accurate DRG assignment and reimbursement.
This involves a wide variety of medical specialties and clinical services and requires translation of the documentation into a corresponding code that captures and describes the patient’s condition and services provided.Reviews outpatient records and assigns Evaluation and Management (E) codes to specified patient populations.
Issues physician query forms to clarify the documentation for accurate code assignments.Screens medical records for compliance with pre-approved criteria for a variety of medical staff/quality management reviews.Applies technical medical record knowledge to various data gathering and analysis projects.Issues physician query forms to clarify the documentation for accurate code assignments.Hours: Full-time, Monday
– Friday, day shift.
80 hours per period.
Benefits package available.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONSPrior working experience in coding is desired.Knowledge of coding practices normally acquired through completion of an Associate Degree in Health Information Management or Healthcare Business Services, or an equivalent program with emphasis in coding required.Previous applicable experience beneficial.RHIT accreditation and/or certification in coding by a recognized professional organization is required within 18 months of date of hire.Possess a high level of interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, and initiative.As an Aspirus team, we demonstrate caring, we plan to impact the future, work with happiness and enthusiasm, recognize our power to make a difference and improve the health of our communities.
