Experienced Magnet Program Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, the Magnet Program Director assumes organization-wide responsibility for the Magnet Program and implementation of creative systems, processes, shared decision making and clinical practices that improve patient care delivery. Responsibilities include ensuring the Magnet Program framework and essential domains are enculturated and hardwired into the organization through coordination, education and consultation with leadership. Coordinates all aspects of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet application, annual reports and re-designation process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to:
Magnet Achievement and Communication
1. Conducts gap analysis for evidence of the Magnet Model components and works closely with leadership to formulate plans to close the gaps in performance.
2. Coordinates and facilitates Magnet Councils.
3. Coordinates efforts to achieve and maintain Magnet Hospital designation.
4. Assists and oversees the process of preparing the nursing staff, physicians, and others as appropriate for the site visit and award phases of the Magnet Recognition Process.
5. Encourages staff participation in professional activities, classes, education, and training to foster professional development and self-growth.
6. Communicates Magnet information through multi-media such as, but not limited to, one-on-one, group interactions, workshops, presentations, written documents, meetings, signs, posters, bulletin boards, e-mail etc.
7. Coordinates Magnet events such as, but not limited to fairs, celebrations, and educational sessions.
8. In collaboration with leadership staff, identifies the unit/department-based “Magnet Champions” and facilitates their orientation and ongoing efforts at the unit/department level, including the development and implementation of the orientation curriculum.
9. Provides ongoing administrative consultation and leadership for all staff with regard to activities that reflect Magnet themes through professional nursing excellence.
10. Represents the Organization in promoting Magnet Achievement
11. Coordinates the site survey process and site visits.

Clinical Resource

1. Responsible for fostering innovation and excellence in nursing.
2. Advances professional nursing practice by providing administrative direction to strengthen and sustain the shared governance structure.
3. Assists in the development of evidence-based policies, procedures and protocols related to nursing throughout the organization.
4. Responsible for managing review and revision of Magnet Related nursing policies, and assuring the quality of content and references.
5. Collaborates with interdisciplinary clinical and administrative leadership, including direct-care nurses and physicians, to ensure that Magnet accepted standards and applicable statutes are reflected in policies that impact patient care and nursing practice.
6. Serves as a mentor for policy development and revision to the shared governance councils.
7. Coordinates and supports other activities related to professional nursing practice and care innovation as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.

Magnet Quality and Documentation

1. Manages performance requirements on an ongoing basis and re-application.
2. Designs or participates in PI processes specific to systems and maintains oversight of the collecting and analyzing of PI data as it relates to NDNQI data.
3. Designs and produces reports and trend graphs as required.
4. Completes all ANCC required documents for application and submission of annual documentation.
5. Coordinates and oversees the process for submitting, reviewing, and editing the documentation regarding nursing excellence, organizational culture and commitment to quality, safety stories and exhibits required for the documentation phase of the application process.
6. Completes all interim reports for ANCC.
7. Reviews the ANCC website for updates and notifications
8. Partners with all nurse leaders to ensure focus on exemplary professional practice, quality, safety and patient care outcomes.
9. Provides direction and supervision to the Quality and Business Analysts associated with the Nursing departments.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

A. Education
Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration or similar required. Doctorate degree preferred. .

B. Qualifications/Experience
? RN license in the state of California
? (2) two years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a Magnet-recognized hospital.
? (1) Year experience in Magnet Program Coordination or previous Program Management experience.
? At least (3) three years of experience in management or an administrative role required.

C. Special Skills/Knowledge
? Current BLS from AHA
? Project Management
? Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills are required.
? Computer proficiency required .
