Job Overview: As an Expeditor at our high-volume restaurant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of food from the kitchen to the customers’ tables. You will collaborate closely with the kitchen staff, servers, and management to ensure that orders are prepared correctly, timely, and meet the restaurant’s quality standards. Your exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle pressure will contribute to creating a positive dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • 1. Order Coordination:
    • Work closely with the kitchen team to track and manage food orders.
    • Communicate effectively with chefs and line cooks to ensure the correct and timely preparation of dishes.
    • Verify the accuracy of orders, including sides, condiments, and special requests, before they leave the kitchen.
  • 2. Quality Assurance:
    • Inspect dishes for presentation, portion size, and overall quality to ensure they meet the restaurant’s standards.
    • Address any discrepancies or issues with food preparation promptly and professionally.
    • Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain consistent quality and taste across all dishes.
  • 3. Timely Service:
    • Prioritize and coordinate the delivery of orders to different tables to maintain an efficient flow of service.
    • Work closely with servers to ensure they are aware of the status of their tables’ orders.
    • Ensure that food is served promptly to avoid unnecessary delays for guests.
  • 4. Guest Satisfaction:
    • Act as a liaison between the kitchen and the front-of-house team, addressing any concerns and relaying feedback to improve service.
    • Respond to guest inquiries and special requests, providing excellent customer service.
  • 5. Cleanliness and Sanitation:
    • Ensure that the plating and food presentation adhere to the restaurant’s hygiene and sanitation standards.
    • Monitor the cleanliness of the food prep and expo area, assisting with cleaning tasks as needed.
  • 6. Multitasking:
    • Adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple orders simultaneously.
    • Maintain composure during busy periods to ensure a positive dining experience for guests.
  • 7. Training and Teamwork:
    • Assist in training new food expeditors and kitchen staff as required.
    • Foster a spirit of cooperation and teamwork among kitchen and front-of-house staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Food Expeditor or in a similar role within a high-volume restaurant setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and front-of-house team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • A positive attitude and a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy trays when necessary.
