Primary Purpose:
Provides basic environmental expertise and reviews under the Land Use discipline to internal client groups and coordinates specific projects.
Land Use reviews typically include ensuring compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Coastal Act, and various city and county zoning ordinances.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Prepares compliance-related documentation, standard practices, guidance documents and related technical training materials specific to Land Use laws and regulations.
* Conducts technical environmental specific training developed within the group and provides presentations to employees, contractors, and agency representatives.
* Participates in, and provides technical input to, proposed changes in regulatory requirements affecting company operations.
* Recommends modifications to company policies and procedures that reflect regulatory changes.
* Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Education, Certifications, Licenses and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Environmental science, urban planning, geography, or equivalent certifications is required.
* 2+ years of environmental experience is preferred.
* Experience with CEQA, NEPA, California Coastal Act, and city and county zoning ordinances preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Strong organizational skills and basic project management skills required.
* Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills required.
* Ability to recognize, analyze and create reports used for proposing innovation solutions by applying mathematic and physical science principles, concepts and techniques.
* Strong interpersonal skills as well as tact and diplomacy in dealing with employees, consultants and regulatory agencies are required.
