Engineer Services, Western US Regional Lead
(Radiation Oncology Equipment)
About this opportunity:
As the Regional Lead or “Director” of Engineering Services, you report directly to the Head of Engineering Services and be responsible for the management of a team of engineers who will be providing engineering services within your western US region.
This Director will need to develop strong relationships with the following internal parties:
- General Managers or Divisional executives in the US
- Operations Managers or Regional Leaders in the US
- Center Leaders
- Regional lead and site Physicists
- Local Quality and Safety leads
- Work, health and safety partner
Your key responsibilities:
- Deploy and operate an end to end group engineering service model that encompasses at a minimum the portfolio of GenesisCare linear accelerators and ancillary devices, diagnostic imaging platforms and other contract systems in the responsible market. The service model should be focused on the complete lifecycle of machines and platforms.
- Implementation of Engineering service model in the relevant state to align with the Cancer Care Service of Future strategy for Oncology.
- Monitor and report radiotherapy equipment performance against SLA for people, parts and coverage and meet related KPI for the state monthly.
- Continued spare part management of Radiotherapy Equipment in accordance to agreed processes.
- Ownership of Engineering related projects in their respective state and regions.
- Partner with Physics and service development functions to deliver aligned and standardized processes and practices.
- Partner with regional leaders and practice-based leaders to ensure the prompt response and high level of engineering support is maintained.
- Provide leadership, technical mentoring and inspiration to direct engineering reports.
- Ensure direct reports have an individual development and work plan including mandatory training, leave management, departmental education priorities.
- Take accountability for personal development, including setting of clear goals in conjunction with National Service Engineering Manager as part of the annual PDP process
- Actively contribute to educational and professional development events.
- Maintain eligibility for membership of relevant industry bodies and adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct.
- Actively engage in National engineering service delivery support and contribute towards national spare parts management initiatives.
- Deliver high quality contract management for customers and ensure any contractual or performance promises made by Engineering Services are met.
- Partnering with regional clinical and engineering leaders in achieving >98% monthly clinical availability on our equipment and striving for zero patient cancellation due to equipment related issues.
- Partnering with the local business to help achieve GenesisCare’s signature strategy on Service of future.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in the relevant engineering discipline
- Experienced vendor certified medical equipment engineer and worked with multiple oncology and medical imaging equipment platforms and related stakeholder management experience
- To be to be eligible for Radiation user License and Electrical restricted worker’s license specific to your region requirements
- In-depth latest technical knowledge and understanding of medical Linear accelerators (ie: Varian or Elekta), diagnostic imaging and associated medical infrastructure (including IT requirements)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to occasionally travel interstate and between sites of a Practice
- Overseas travel may be required
- Attend training courses and seminars as required
- Demonstrate knowledge of electrical circuitry- both digital and analog
- Knowledge to be able to decipher decimal and binary coding of chips
- Ability to read a schematic, both logic and line, for system diagnostics
- Demonstrate knowledge with microwave and radar RF systems
- Able to trouble shoot and repair electrical components from discreet all the way up to major
- Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical systems and their functions
