Position PurposeThe Engineers duties will include but not limited to handling guest room calls, assisting other departments with guest needs and performing routine maintenance duties such as perform repair work on hotel, locking systems, painting of rooms, hotel plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment and HVAC systems.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms preventative maintenance and other tasks as assigned by the Director of Engineering and including rooms, public areas, all front and back of the house areas including pool and exercise area.Performs repairs as needed on mechanical, electrical, kitchen and laundry equipment.Performs engineering projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering.Maintains cleanliness of storage rooms, maintenance room and flammable storage rooms.Ensures fire safety equipment (fire alarm system, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers) are operational.Notifies the Director of Engineering and when major repairs are needed.Ensures that all maintenance tools are in good working condition and stored neatly and securely in the maintenance room.Performs other tasks as needed by other departments.Complies with all OSHA, ADA, and other safety and security policies.Assist housekeeping department with any guest requests.Assist other engineers and mechanics in repairs.Corrects guest room heating and air conditioning malfunctions.Repair and/or install defective HVAC equipment.Demonstrates courteous, friendly professional work environment.Demonstrates a commitment to providing the best possible experience for our guests and employees.Report to work on time, in proper clean uniform.Must wear safety attire (shoes, headwear etc.)Reports all unsafe conditions and suspicious activities.Knowledge, Skills, and AttributesMust be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.Must be able to work well under pressure.Must be able to effectively communicate.Must possess knowledge of electrical, mechanical and preventative maintenance systems.Must possess working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and painting.Must be able to work under minimal supervision.Must be able to focus on details.Must be able to read, write, and understand English language.Must have basic knowledge of arithmetic.Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion at all times.Ability to stand on their feet for long periods of time.Ability to maneuver and handle heavy equipment and machinery.QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent GED certificate preferred. Preferred technical diploma from a trade college.Experience: Strong technical skills with preferably three years of years of hotel experience.
