Eligibility Screener_CHMC

Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, bilingual customer service oriented Eligibility Screener to work in a local hospital with Covid-19 vaccination. Screen patients from their hospital rooms to determine potential eligibility for third party resources and explain eligibility requirements and application process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Screen patients and/ or patient representatives to determine potential eligibility for third party resources.
  • Explain to patients and other entities the eligibility requirements, application process, and verification requirements for applicable programs.
  • Facilitate the application process when appropriate for the patient by assisting the patient in the completing of the application, scheduling appointment interviews, and obtaining required verification.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the patient and governmental agencies to ensure cooperation and compliance.
  • Document pertinent patient information in the appropriate systems dictated by the health care facility and the company.
  • Document account activity as required by company policies and procedures in order to support account dispositions.
  • Determine potential eligibility for health care coverage in accordance to state/ federal/ and local policies and procedures and pertinent legislation.
  • Monitor patient accounts to ensure appropriate processing timeframes are met.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient’s health records and the company’s business practices.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate or equivalent in relevant work experience desired.
Experience:
  • 1 year of healthcare coverage/eligibility experience required. 2 years of healthcare coverage/eligibility experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics:
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multitasked environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Work Environment
  • Office environment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 20 pounds with or without accommodation.
