DIRECTV is seeking a Studio/Transmission Engineer within the Broadcast Technical Project/Program Management group at the DIRECVTs Los Angeles Broadcast Center (LABC).
Responsibilities Work with our Sports/Studio folks to understand both operational and technical issues; socializing any potential solutions with stakeholders.
Leading Sports/Studio project from start to finish, including defining project scope, developing project budget, schedule, and technical designs.
Organize routine reviews of project status with project team and Sports/Studio stakeholders; proactively keep them aware of delivery dates.
Enforce site integration standards and combining logical workflow with sound engineering designs for optimum functionality and ease of troubleshooting.
The hands-on engineering tasks include configuring production equipment, servers, network devices, test and commissioning of the signal processing and monitoring subsystems.
Also troubleshoot studio equipment/subsystem problems as needed.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and relevant certifications (SMPTE, SBE, PMP, Cisco, network etc.) preferred.
A minimum of 5 years technical experience relevant to broadcast engineering, television, satellite/cable MSO or studio production is required.
Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of network technologies/systems (LAN/WAN circuits, IP routing protocols, topologies, etc.).
Working knowledge of LINUX.
Detailed understanding of systems design documents and signal flow drawings.
Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
Proficient with productivity tools: MS Office Excel, Word, Power Point, Projects and Visio.
Must be extremely organized, able to articulate thoughts in a clear and concise manner, lead by positive example, possess good interpersonal skills to develop healthy trustful relationships with customers, subordinates, peers, and superiors alike.
