Digital Engineer II

The reliability and effectiveness of thousands of Aethercomm products has been tested and proven in combat, helping to protect and save the lives of our warfighters.Aethercomm is looking to fill a Digital Engineer II position.Scope: The purpose of this standard procedure is to establish and define the functional role, requirements, reporting relationships, authority, responsibilities and measurements of performance of the Digital Engineer II at Aethercomm.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design and implement a circuit/schematic based on a well-defined set of requirements.

Search for and select digital/analog parts based on customer requirements, industry standards, and/or Aethercomm best practices.

Create test methods for engineering and production validation and verification.

Work on development of embedded code and PC graphical user interfaces written in C and Visual C#.

Understands analog feedback circuits and buffering.

Solve, design, and implement basic to moderate logic problems in circuit/schematics.

Example: Implement a logic low level fault when either high current, high temperature, or an over-voltage scenario has occurred.

Participate in all phases of a project’s life cycle, including system architecture design, schematic creation, parts selection, advise design engineers during PCB layout, firmware development, system integration, system verification and transitioning projects to other engineering teams or the manufacturing department.

Able to utilize analysis and test data to drive design decisions and to defend any design decisions.

Take ownership of completing actions required for each design gate for projects assigned.

Identify new customer/vendor requests and be able to infer potential technical impact (which leads to more design time or actual costs) to original SOW and/or Spec, and documents these request for Project Manager / Project Engineer to address potential costs implications Maintain current and accurate design records, including regularly using the company firmware repository and releasing documents and firmware.

Prepare material and participate in internal design reviews including system architecture, component selection, schematic creation, schematic reviews, layout reviews, code verification, and specification compliance.

Communicate effectively using both oral and written communication during internal design reviews, and confidently answer questions and provide expertise on the subject.

Able to lead a project from the DE perspective.

Has ability to balance multiple moderately challenging projects and support operations personnel as issues arise during build.

May lead or set the direction for work by technicians and designers Able to estimate project tasks durations and resource needs moderately well with guidance from Digital Engineer III and up for assigned project.

Interact with Project Engineers and Program Managers to inform them of project status and aid in project timeline planning Ensure that projects are completed accurately and on time.

Extend and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; seeking mentoring.

Provide engineering support to the test and production departments, as required.

Ensure company compliance in accordance with AS9100.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Higher level mathematics such as calculus is also required.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills:MS Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio), internet software, Matlab, schematic capture programs, PCB layout, Spice circuit simulation or equivalent programs.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
