About the Role:
In this hybrid management/individual contributor role, you’ll be directly managing a small team of designers as well as leading design efforts to tackle complex problems and produce creative solutions for our users. It’s an opportunity to get your feet wet as a manager, while also maintaining a hand in individual contributor work. Or, even if you’ve been in management for a while, but find you still want to do IC work as well, this might be a good spot for you.
Our UX team is composed of UX designers, UI/visual designers, researchers, writers, and QA specialists collaborating closely with product managers and engineers to deliver the best possible experience for our customers.
You’ll be joining our Platform product group. This group is responsible for creating the building blocks that power applications that stop breaches. These building blocks support numerous internal product groups and external partners and include Authentication, Host Management, Workflows, Partner Integrations, and our design system, Toucan.
What you’ll be doing:
Team management

Coordinate with other UX managers, engineering managers, and program managers to prioritize, track, triage, and organize workload for the designers in your product group.

Maintain visibility into the product roadmap for the
and sharing that information back to other managers and team members. -
Manage team workload, project resourcing and coordination in a fast-paced, highly distributed environment.

Be a “voice of design” in roadmapping and planning activities.

Work with product group managers to support strategic hiring and team growth initiatives, as well as hiring for and growing the Platforms group.

Coach, manage, and mentor direct reports.
Design and Design Leadership:

Build team cohesion and shared vision among the various functional areas, including product managers, designers, writers, researchers, engineers, and QA.

Collaborate with other leaders to refine UX design processes and best practices; encourage collaboration, pairing, and workshopping.

Work collaboratively with researchers, designers, writers, and engineers to design user-focused and data-informed applications.

Plan and lead design and ideation sessions that help create alignment, gain consensus, and drive projects forward.

Partner with UX researchers to write, facilitate, and analyze user research.
General:

Some travel for project offsites and team get-togethers, though no company travel is happening during COVID-19.

Develop a general understanding of cybersecurity domain to best support team members.
Skills we’re looking for:
-
Experience in project management and/or work prioritization in a design environment.

A background as a UX design individual contributor that led to a deep understanding of the various functional areas of UX and how they collaborate and intertwine.

Knowledge of and experience in cybersecurity and/or endpoint management enterprise SaaS is a bonus.

Desire to learn and grow as a design manager.
