We are looking for a Design Engineer to join the Applications team. This individual will report to the Director of Design Engineering and be a key participant in driving Microfabrica’s technology leadership.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage technical engagements on customer projects
- Evaluate wide variety of projects and applications for feasibility
- Provide DFM feedback based on Microfabrica’s MICA Freeform process
- Analyze and optimize designs for manufacturability with MICA Freeform
- Create wafer layouts and diligently follow procedures for manufacturing hand-off to production team
- Engage in new product development
- Conceptualize and design solutions for new applications
- Perform mechanical simulation and analysis to optimize designs
- Perform device testing and characterization
- Organize/analyze data and present key findings
- Assemble project status and technical reports and present to stakeholders
Education & Training
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics
- Training in project management preferred
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years in design/simulation
- Minimum 3 years in leading projects and working with cross-functional teams
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Semiconductor/MEMS industry and/or in a customer-facing role
Required Skills
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation
- Ability to manage complex technical projects under aggressive timelines
- Self-motivated to find solutions to challenging technical problems
- Demonstrated ideation and creative problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge base in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Analysis)
- Demonstrated proficiency in Design software such as Solidworks (preferred), Pro/E, NX
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing Mechanical Simulation and Analysis (experience in SolidWorks Simulation is preferred)
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with layout software such as LEdit
