California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) seeks an inspiring and innovative leader to serve as dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology (ECST). Applications, nominations and expressions of interest are welcomed.
Reporting to the provost and the vice president for academic affairs, and working in collaboration with faculty, students and staff, the dean will provide dynamic, visionary leadership to build upon the college s strengths, and develop new opportunities to fulfill the role of the college as a model of intellectual and community engagement.

The dean provides academic and administrative leadership to five departments: [Civil Engineering]( [Computer Science]( [Electrical and Computer Engineering,]( [Mechanical Engineering]( and [Technology]( The college is also proud to offer the Capstone Senior Design Program, which allows students to work on year-long, multidisciplinary projects to solve actual problems defined by the college s industry partners. The college offers eight baccalaureate degree programs and six master s degree programs. As of Fall 2022, the college has 58 tenure-track faculty, 85 part-time lecturers and 3,188 students. With an operating budget of close to $10,281,632, the college generated 1,555 annual full-time equivalent students.
The successful candidate will be a student-centered leader who is passionate about, and has experience working with, the student population that Cal State LA predominately serves (diverse and first-generation students). Candidates should also have the ability to support student success in undergraduate and graduate programs and should have the ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. The next dean will possess a record of progressive leadership experience in academic administration that includes strategic planning and communication, shared governance, consultative decision-making, personnel management (faculty and staff), resource management and quality academic programming and delivery.
Candidates should have an earned terminal degree from an accredited university in a field related to engineering, computer science or technology, and an excellent record of teaching, scholarship and service at the university-level, with accomplishments to warrant appointment at the rank of tenured full professor within an existing department of the college.
