Our location in Sylmar, CA currently has an opportunity for a Electrical Engineer II.  

We are seeking a high-caliber Electrical Engineer II with background in RF applications.  This role develops and executes tests to assess MRI safety of cardiac electronic implantable products. We are looking for a detail-oriented engineer to apply engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solutions for technical problems.  

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates active implantable medical devices and/or test methods for MRI safety.

  • Conducts MRI RF safety assessments of leaded active implantable medical devices

  • Evaluates measurement and model uncertainty to develop uncertainty budgets.

  • Collects measurement data using power supplies, RF amplifiers, temperature probes, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, ohm meters, current probes.

  • Conducts feasibility studies to evaluate capability and functionality of test methods and devices.

  • Develops new concepts from initial design to market release.

  • Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities.

  • Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.

  • Resolves and/or facilitates the resolution of complex technical problems including identifying root causes to prevent re-occurrence.

  • Validates equipment and processes as required.

  • Establishes and cultivates an extensive cross-functional network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.

  • Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel.

  • Influences management on technical or business solutions.

  • Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval. Initiates or maintains work schedule. Establishes priorities of work assignments.

  • Exercises sound judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or related engineering field related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in electrical design, systems, or related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area.

  • Strong ability to work effectively within a cross-functional product development team.

  • Strong written communication skills with ability to work within a quality management system utilizing design controls.

  • Ability to solve a variety of complex problems of diverse scope.

  • Solid grasp of basic electromagnetic theory.

  • Proficiency with measurement techniques and concepts relevant to RF applications (e.g. VNA measurements, impedance matching, transmission line theory, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Matlab

  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in Python and/or C# is a plus.
