The Data Privacy Attorney will receive a generous total compensation package.

About the role:
As a Data Privacy Attorney at Latham, you will work within the Global Data Privacy Office (GDPO), part of the wider Office of General Counsel.

The GDPO collaborates with the Information Governance, Security and Risk Management, and Audit and Advisory departments to ensure Firm use of personal data is compliant with US, EU, Asian and Middle Eastern data privacy laws, and other global data privacy laws applicable to the Firm.
They will support the GDPO in advising on data sharing and data processing agreements, implementing initiatives necessary for demonstrating compliance with the Firm’s Binding Corporate Rules and governance obligations, monitoring developments in privacy laws in relevant jurisdictions, and engaging with stakeholders to raise awareness of data privacy requirements and best practice across the Firm.
Other key responsibilities include:

Working with members of the GDPO and other key internal stakeholders to review proposed projects which involve the collection or utilization of personal data, advise on privacy risks and compliance with local data privacy laws.

Where necessary, carry out privacy impact assessments Working with the Firm’s Procurement function and Security Review Team to review vendor contracts and other commercial relationships involving the transfer of personal data Maintaining and advising on the Firm’s Binding Corporate Rules, supporting their ongoing review and continued management across the firm Alongside members of the GDPO, implementing measures necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable data privacy laws, including managing and updating records of processing activities, assisting with data mapping and vendor management reviews

As a Data Privacy Attorney, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude.

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in advising on EU and US data privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA Experience of designing, maintaining, and developing data privacy compliance programs for large international organizations, ideally with some experience gained from an in-house position Experience of providing data privacy advice to professional services firms

In addition, you will have:
 
Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage time well, prioritize effectively, anticipate obstacles, and handle multiple deadlines The ability to use your own initiative in driving improvements to the Firm’s compliance posture The ability to undertake and drive forward large, long-term projects, develop alternative methods to complete them, and implement solutions The ability to use independent judgment and discretion when making majority of decisions A detail-oriented approach needed to recommend and implement strategic improvements
