is currently looking for an Associate Region Counsel.
The right candidate under the direction of the Region Counsel, will provide support, assistance and advice on all region’s legal matters, with an emphasis on compliance.
Review and revise vendor contracts and home purchase agreements.
Ensure Divisions’ contracts, programs and policies comply with all applicable laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.Provide legal analysis and advice to ensure region and division policies, procedures and contracts comply with all applicable laws and regulationsWork with the CA Divisions to process submissions to the CA Department of Real EstateReview and revise homebuyer contract documentsProvide advice regarding RESPA issues, FHA/VA compliance and other issuesReview, negotiate and revise vendor contract documents and handle vendor disputesRespond to government inquiries and complaintsDraft commercial lease documents for premises leased by the divisionsProvide advice regarding legal issues in construction, home sales and warrantyInvestigate, negotiate and resolve homebuyer and homeowner complaintsReview marketing contracts and programs and draft documentation and disclosures as necessaryProvide advice regarding various region mattersCoordinate outside counsel as necessaryAbility to travel overnightConduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyRegular and reliable attendanceSupervisory ResponsibilitiesMay directly supervise 1 or more employees in the Legal Department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceMust possess a Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.) and be a licensed attorneyFour to six years of experienceAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and emailAbility to sit for a majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
