Job Description:Customs Entry WriterWell established Customs Brokerage seeks experienced Entry WriterIdeal candidates should have past entry writing experience or training with a Customs Brokerage or Freight Forwarder.Location: Temporarily remote due to COVID-19; otherwise on-site Los Angeles, CA 90045Compensation: $17.00
– $20.00 per hourResponsibilities:Receive and review Entry packet documentation to prepare Entry for clearanceNotify proper external parties or client of any missing documentationOpen files and carefully enter proper data and follow any specified SOPs prior to transmissionFollow clearance status, upload all Entry documentation 7501s, 3461s, and/or DO s to internal document management system before routing to BillingEnsure all assigned Entries are submitted on time and service is provided in a timely manner in accordance with company and client expectationsRequired Qualifications:Minimum of 2-3 years Customs Entry Writing experienceHigh school degree or GED equivalentWorking knowledge of Windows operating system, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (ex, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Browser)Experience with a variety of commodities, as well as RLF EntriesExperience clearing Entries with Partner Government Agencies (PGA) requirementsExperience with Customs / PGA holds or CBP / PGA exams and understanding which cases require escalation to internal/external stakeholders.Must be able to work full time during established work hours.
Position may require occasional evening and/or weekend workMust have reliable internet connectionMust be able to pass federal/state/local government, or company-required background checks.Preferred Qualifications:AA or BA degree a plusExperience with CargoWiseExperience processing Entries with a paperless systemAbility to maintain ownership of Entry files from start to end, and follow any established standard operating procedures (SOPs) on accountsStrong customer service skills, comfortable handling direct communication with clients to carry out servicesKnowledge of Harmonized Tariff Codes and classificationKnowledge of Incoterms and valuation helpfulHigh attention to detailThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed.
