Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire a Cultural Diversity Liaison/Spanish Interpreter who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Cultural Diversity Liaison, you will: Provide language interpretation in various medical settings (i.e.

admission, ER, behavioral health, labor and delivery, internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, other specialty areas, outpatient, and more) Observe interpreter standards of practice such as maintaining professional boundaries, respecting patients’ rights, and remaining neutral while supporting patient-provider relationship Serve as a cultural and linguistic resource for hospital staff and patients Track interpretation services rendered Assist manager with administrative tasks, as needed Required Qualifications: Competencies: Strong linguistic skills
– oral fluency in English and target language(s) Understands a variety of regional accents, linguistic styles and registers Selects appropriate mode of interpretation for each situation Passes the language proficiency assessment as Level 2 Understands and adopts the different roles of interpreters (conduit, clarifier, cultural broker, advocate) as appropriate Uses discretion when discussing confidential issues Demonstrates cultural competence and customer service skills (interpersonal skills) Required Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school diploma required; Associate degree in healthcare preferred Trained and tested healthcare interpreter with at least one year of experience Professional interpreting certification, such as Certified Medical Interpreter, preferred At Adventist HealthCare our job is to care for you.

Work Schedule: Full Time; 40 hours per week.

This position will support Rockville, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring and White Oak locations.

As a result, medical marijuana use will not be accepted as a valid explanation for a positive drug test result.

Those testing positive are given the opportunity to re-apply in 90 days, if they can truthfully attest that they have not used any nicotine products in the past ninety (90) days and successfully pass follow-up testing.
