What you’ll be doing
This job is all about maintaining the quality of copy on the product deal pages for AppSumo.
As part of our content team, you’ll help lead a team of copywriters and work with AppSumo Select partners to market external tools through compelling copy that showcases our unique brand voice.
On the day-to-day, you’ll be:
- Conducting general proofreading on spelling, grammar, and style for product copy assets
- Helping to create captivating, informative, and humorous promotional text that will increase engagement and sales for our ecommerce platform
- Managing a team of writers, delivering qualitative feedback, and ensuring that they meet our deadlines and standards
- Making editorial decisions and conducting rewrites to ensure clarity of copy, plus consistency with AppSumo’s signature voice and style
- Making judgment calls related to style and grammar and establishing new guidelines where needed
- Maintaining a balance between partner feedback and adherence to our brand voice and guidelines
- Collaborating with our deal setup team to discuss any red flags or possible launch delays
This is a unique role that requires a skilled editor and leader who’s organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented.
Being Twitter-funny (i.e., great with one-liners and quick quips) is a major plus!

Requirements
- At least 1–2 years of editing experience
- At least 3–4 years of copywriting experience, specifically geared towards web applications, e-commerce products, and/or SaaS.
In-house experience with a tech company is preferred.
- Experience managing a team of creatives and a flexible editorial calendar
- Experience writing humor and creating style guidelines
- Preferred experience in project management tools like MeisterTask and Asana
- Basic knowledge of HTML
In the first three months of this role, success means adapting to our style of copy, effectively editing reviewed work, giving feedback to writers confidently, and delivering copy on time.
A day in the life of an AppSumo Product Editor includes polishing first drafts of product deal copy, delivering constructive feedback, submitting copy to external AppSumo Select partners, and ensuring that copy deadlines are met according to the deal calendar.
