Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer

Role: CFD Simulation Engineer Duration: 12 months contract with possible extension Location: Mossville IL Job Description Business Objective or Problem to be solved: Position responsible for performing fluid and thermal simulations at request of design teams to assess component performance and behavior.

analyze design concepts and provide input for design changes to meet objectives.

develop simulation plans, build and execute simulation models, analyze and report results and provide recommendations back to the product design teams.

simulations will include 3D CFD (Computational fluid dynamics) modeling of various components in drivetrain, engines, and hydraulic components.

Daily responsibilities: Will participate in simulation planning with design and other simulation engineers.

this may involve running simulations of the systems to predict performance.

the position makes sure simulations are executed properly.

then analyze the data and create summary reports with results and recommendations.

Much of the day will be spent using CFD software (Star-CCM, converge, fluent), building meshes and running simulations on high performance cluster in addition to analyzing results.

time will also be spent attending team meetings and documenting and reporting results to clients.

Top three required technical skills: Knowledge and experience with commercial CFD software such as Star
– CCM, ANSYS Fluent or Converge (more than one is huge plus) Experience with 1D software such as Amesim or GT-suite and solid modeling software such as creo Knowledge of drivetrain, engine, hydraulic components such as clutches and brakes, bevel and planetary gears, pumps and valves, transmission lube, engine piston-cylinder, and actuation systems would be asset Three Skills that that are nice to have Ability to work collaboratively with others-designers, engineers, simulation engineers and software suppliers Tenacity and ability to ask right questions Communication to all team and clients Education : MS or PhD in mechanical engineering, 2-5 yr of related work experience.

must have performed fluid dynamic simulations as part of their graduate studies or part of a prior job in industry.

Key things: For drivetrain side of things.

Multi phase flow as apposed to combustion simulation.

High end fluid dynamic simulations including multi-phase transient flow over a range of applicants.

Fluid dynamics and heat transfer commercial CFD software such 3D software Star
– CCM, converge, ANSYS fluent (if they know both then it works better), CFD software, running simulations.

MS or PhD in mechanical engineering 2-5 years of related work .

Soft skills desired: Tenacity, ability to ask the right questions Dev/Research engineer 2
– want more experience.

Want some someone who can hit ground running Remote option
– yes through end of year but ideal for them to be in Peoria once client goes back to site
