Your Role
The role of the Senior Compensation Analyst is critical to the success of Blue Shield of California and the People & Engagement HR function in realizing its goals and objectives. The Talent Acquisition team at Blue Shield of California (BSC) provides the processes, practices and guidance to ensure hiring is carried out equitably across every step of the recruiting cycle for approximately ~2000 hires annually. The Senior Compensation Analyst will act as a partner to TA, HR and hiring leaders to drive shared understanding, pay recommendations and effective utilization of compensation levers throughout the hiring lifecycle. The Senior Compensation Analyst is integrated within Talent Acquisition team, serving as an extension of the Compensation team which provides leadership and guidance in the development and delivery of effective compensation strategies and policies that support BSC’s goals, in alignment with enterprise values, philosophy and strategic direction. This role will maintain dual reporting with a solid line to the Director of Talent Acquisition and a dotted line to the Sr. Director of Total Rewards.
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Develop the methodology and process that enables competitive and equitable offers
- Draft offers in close partnership with TA Advisors, HR Business Partners and Hiring Leaders for candidates receiving offers of employment with Blue Shield of California
- Evaluate jobs against framework through the job evaluation process, ensuring that positions are evaluated against the established set of criteria and are leveled consistently across the organization
- Maintain and apply knowledge related to compliance and government regulations regarding pay, including California wage requirements and the FLSA statute
- Consult with hiring stakeholders in strategic and timely conversations on the recruitment of each candidate from early stages of hiring through acceptance of an offer.
- Proactively streamline and build efficiencies in the way compensation is modeled throughout all phases of the recruiting lifecycle
- Recommend, design and build operational controls and audits to ensure accuracy and consistency in the development of offers
- Partner with People Analytics and Reporting and Total Rewards teams to build and execute audit and reporting that highlights areas for continuous improvement in existing hiring process and policies
- Serve as the primary conduit between Compensation and Talent Acquisition to drive integration between both functions processes, practices and tools
