Since its inception in 2012, SecondMuse has been working with NASA on the International Space Apps Challenge which has become the world’s largest global hackathon, engaging thousands of citizens across the globe to use NASA’s open data to build innovative solutions to challenges we face on Earth and in space.
Space Apps inspires local communities to come together, think intensely, and create solutions to important problems, this role will help to communicate the impact of our work.n nThis role reports to our SecondMuse Studio team that leads on marketing and communications for the whole company and across programs.
The Communications Associate will work primarily with the SecondMuse Studio team to support multiple program strategies, but will also be embedded into the program teams to stay up to date on all of the program initiatives, milestones, and needs.
Must be comfortable working across multiple teams and thrive in a collaborative work environment.n n Essential Functionsn n Primary responsibilities include coordinating and producing content for our public-facing communications through social/digital media marketing, content writing, and comms plan and partner engagement execution.
Also responsible for ongoing internal communications needs including decks, presentations, and impact reporting creation.
Our ideal candidate is a confident self-starter and a team player willing to tackle complex assignments independently, work on teams, and help our programs achieve their goals.
The candidate must be comfortable working in a small organization where initiative, fresh ideas, and commitment are valued and rewarded.n Manage day to day operations and content calendars of public-facing channels (including website, newsletter, blogs, and social media) Manage communities and engage the audience on social media platforms Write, copyedit, proofread, and revise communications content as necessary (blogs, articles, briefs, etc) Ongoing support and development of internal and external presentations to communicate our work and impact Support content production including copywriting for internal and external reports, briefs, presentations, blogs, and thought leadership Promote ongoing events Measure and present results of communication efforts Ensure standard and consistency in all communications materials and deliverables Work closely with program managers to understand program updates, milestones, and objectives Support SecondMuse Studio in the development of ongoing communication strategies and campaigns Support SecondMuse Studio in partnership and client management for communications Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions n n Requirementsn n Key Competencies n n Candidates must have a range of marketing communications experience.

n Expected Hours of Work n n This is a full-time position with preference-based in Los Angeles and will report to our SecondMuse Studio team that leads on marketing and communications for the whole company and across programs.
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee’s schedule must overlap with core work hours and must be able to take and hold meetings across time zones.
Occasional evening work may be required due to the national scope.n n Preferred Education And Experiencen n Experience comes in many different forms.
