CMM Inspector II

Operates and programs CMM for production parts and tooling fixtures to engineering drawings using precision inspection tools and gauges.Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Set-up and run Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine with Calypso 5.4 software.* Operate Metronics QC5000 CMM program.* Operate Romer Arm Verisurf with version 10 software.* Maintain CMM cleanliness and operations.* Operate and maintain Comparators.* Interpret complex tool drawings.* Use Standard Measuring Instruments (including sine plates) to make inspection set-ups.* Initiate appropriate inspection reports.* Record inspection results.* Maintain inspection data.* Locate tools and perform periodic inspection on tooling listed on the monthly dispatch report.* File drawings and reports.* Assist inspection whenever necessary.* Review and accept inspection data from outside facilities.* Coordinate design efforts with Manufacture Engineering Department.* Coordinate tool inspection priorities with Tool Control Department.* Maintain area in a neat, clean and orderly manner.* Make complex surface plate set-ups to evaluate multi-plane compound characteristics.* Use trigonometry to solve angles and legs of triangles generated by set-ups.* Compare part drawings to ensure compatibility and anticipated results.* Analyze dimensional characteristics on first parts produced on tool to determine if production parts will be within specific tolerance limits.* This job description is not all inclusive of all duties. Other duties may be assigned.QualificationsRequires 2 years related technical college/trade school, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Requires 6+ years related aerospace industry experience in precision inspection.Knowledge, Skill and AbilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* Must be proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments typical of the tool and die making trade including: Zeiss coordinate measuring machines w/ Calypso 5.4 software; angle plates; dial indicators; gauge blocks; height gauges; parallels; protractors; sine bars; v-blocks; transits; levels; and other general inspection instruments.* Must be able to read/interpret blueprints/engineering drawings.* Must have working proficiency with shop geometry, trigonometry and descriptive geometry.* Must interface effective across organizational levels.* Must have good organizational skills and maintain accurate, complete documentation.* Must be able to solve problems including root cause and corrective actions.* Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.* Must be computer/PC proficient including MS Office suite.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesN/APhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
