Child Assessor – VIQI

This position falls under the U.S.

Department of Labor Service Contract Act (SCA).

Hourly wage will be determined based on the geographical area in which your home is located.

The pay rate for your location is $19.93per hour.

In addition to hourly pay, a Health and Welfare stipend of $4.54 per hour will be provided for up to 40 hours per week.

You are also eligible to receive pay for up to 10 holidays and annual vacation time payout.

Travel time and mileage is fully reimbursable.

Field Interviewers are responsible for
Making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions and obtain participation
Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
When working in the field, must be willing to agree to any COVID-19-related protocols put in place by RTI.

These could include, among others, wearing face coverings or respiratory protection, gloves, taking temperatures daily, social distancing with survey respondents, getting vaccinated, and/or completing a health pledge.

All safety supplies required for use on the project will be provided by RTI.
Additional project specific responsibilities to include:
Working a variable schedule, as dictated by preschool/center schedules and case assignments
Working with assigned staff at early childhood centers to determine logistics of child assessments
Traveling to sampled early childhood centers to complete child assessments.
Tracking student eligibility, communications with center administrators, and updates related to logistics
Assuming full responsibility for use and care of project equipment, taking reasonable and appropriate steps to safeguard against damage, loss, or theft and return at the conclusion of the assignment or at a supervisor’s request
Completing, organizing, and safely storing paperwork
Using a laptop computer for project activities, including entering information in web-based systems, viewing electronic reports, and sending/receiving email
Completing all required activities in a professional manner, while maintaining the integrity of all information acquired
RTI International, is seeking part-time child assessors to work on an early childhood center-based research study.

This important research study, led by MDRC, is designed to learn more about children’s experiences in preschool settings.

Data collectors will travel to participating centers to conduct 60-minute assessments with preschool-age children.

Candidates must be available to work daytime, weekday hours, particularly between the hours of 7 a.m.

to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree
Must be at least 21 years old at time of employment
Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening, and fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
Available for entire training and data collection period
Able to successfully complete training
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
Able to keep project information confidential.
Regular access to an in-home internet connection to complete data collection tasks
Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates
Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with people from culturally-diverse backgrounds
Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency
Strong attention to detail.
Comfort working in a preschool setting and in all types of neighborhoods
Previous work on school-based research studies, particularly in preschool settings
Degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or related field
Experience conducting direct assessments with children, using measures such as the Preschool Language Scales, Woodcock Johnson Tests of Achievement, or similar assessments
Fluency in Spanish (both written and spoken) preferred

The data collection period is expected to be March through June 2022
On average, you will be needed approximately 20 hours per week when work is available
On average, you should be available to work in the field 3 days each week
The majority of this work is anticipated to be during weekdays during daytime hours
Each of your trips to the field are expected to be at least 5 hours long
Data Collectors are required to attend a web-based training scheduled for late March 2022.

Trainees must successfully complete training including online courses, teleconferences, and an oral certification to continue employment on the project.
