Chief Talent Officer

Company is seeking a visionary Chief Talent Officer (CTO) who will set up systems and processes such that all people arrive at, engage with and find success at Company Academy. Reporting to the CEO, this senior leadership position will carry the responsibility of ensuring that every individual at Company works with an equity driven, community centric organization that fosters their ability to do their best work for the mission. The CTO sets a vision and strategy for all people, talent, human resources, culture and equity work across Company by including and holding people, scholars and their families and communities at the center of the work. The CTO builds and sustains a lasting culture of equity, inclusion and belonging by operating in authentic partnership with the Chief Team, Network Leaders, School Leaders, the People Department’s leaders, and all of Company’ stakeholders. This is an ideal position for a passionate and skilled people-centered leader who is ready to center equity as a driver for the practices, policies and programs that sustain all of the efforts of Company’ people.

People Leadership

  • • Developing and leading execution of a talent vision and strategy that builds and sustains a people-first culture at Company, including the goals, priorities, and strategic initiatives related to recruiting, selecting, developing, engaging, recognizing, and retaining top talent;
  • • Partnering with members of the Chief Team, Network and School Leaders to build and sustain a thriving culture of equity, inclusion and belonging throughout the network and schools.

Recruitment and Selection

  • • Developing and executing a comprehensive talent vision and equity-driven strategies, processes, and key performance indicators to staff at all schools and the Network office;
  • • Ensuring that Company’ people-first, equitable culture is showcased and authentically demonstrated at every point of the attraction, recruitment and selection process;
  • • Leading and driving a compelling employer value proposition that increases the talent and teacher pipeline using a variety of levers including the execution of an excellent candidate experience throughout the recruitment and selection process.

Human Resource Management

  • • Maintaining strategic oversight of all aspects of human resources including: compensation, benefits, certification, evaluation, recognition, retention, employee relations, and engagement, and the embedded focus on equity;
  • • Executing on a competitive, equitable and transparent compensation system and a reliable, role-aligned, and equity-driven performance evaluation system for all staff;
  • • Identifying and eliminating threats to diversity, inclusion, or belonging to the community by leading change in our systems, organizational structures, policies, practices and attitudes.

PRIORITIES – A successful first year in this role for the new Chief Talent Officer will include:

  • • Recruiting and effectively onboarding a team of at least four direct reports: Director of HR, Director of Talent, Director of People and Culture.
  • • Developing and leading execution of a talent vision and strategy that builds and sustains a people-first culture at Company.
  • • Developing, reporting, and monitoring key performance indicators related to talent acquisition, development, and retention through an equity lens.
  • • Aligning the efforts of the People Department to the efforts of Schools in order to improve student achievement.
  • • Collaborating across departments to ensure clear communication and mutual investment that drives success in organizational priorities and yearly initiatives.

Requirements

  • • An accomplished leader with 5+ years of professional success in a talent facing role including 3+ years leading a team of adults towards successful outcomes.
  • • Equipped with a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred but not required).
  • • Someone with a deep passion and commitment to equity and Company’ mission (providing a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to graduate from four-year colleges and universities).
  • • An excellent project manager and change manager.
  • • Humble, receptive to feedback, and a proven constant learner.
  • • A leader who leads through a culture of care, relationships, and support with all stakeholders and holds a strong equity stance and conviction of talent as a key lever for furthering anti-racist work.
