Manages and directs facilities operations and maintenance workplace safety as well as FPM safety inspection employee and third-party personnel performingsite and field safety inspections. In conjunction with University’s property insurance provider, implements and oversees a property loss prevention program. Develops and administers comprehensive programs in these areas.The ideal candidate for the position of Chief Safety Officer has the following:* Advanced degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field; however education/experience may substitute for education* 15 years’ progressive experience overseeing safety programs for construction, operations, and maintenance* Certified Safety Professional and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician certificationThe Chief Safety Officer:* Leads development and implementation of the FPM Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program for over 1000 employees and contractor personnel.* Serves as the primary advisor to the FPM senior management on all EHS matters, to include development and implementation of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).* Advises leadership team to ensure compliance with all appropriate Federal, State, and Local EHS provisions.* Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.* Working closely with the leadership team and the safety committee, develop a program-level EHS management program that is tailored to all workstreams. This includes but is not limited to:* EHS Governance* Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement EHS policies and procedures* Establishing standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)* Tracking and analyzing EHS statistics, KPIs and lessons learned* Provides technical and administrative support to the safety committee* Reviews accident and incident reports; leads root-cause analysis* Reports and presentations* Reviews contractor EHS plans for compliance; works with project managers in safety quality assurance.* Oversees the Prevention Through Design (PTD) program.* Develops and leads the safety training program, to include:* Establishment of a position-based employee training program identifying opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, illnesses, and accidents/incidents* Conducts FPM employee training, including OSHA and other applicable safety standards training* Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates* Coordinates and collaborates with University EHS in terms of reporting and overall program development.* Supervises and directs the in-house and third-party safety inspectors.* Oversees the OCIP program and works with the OCIP administrator in review of jobsite safety, accidents/incidents, and claims.* Accountable for the development of team members by helping them set and achieve goals for their career growth.
