Key Responsibilities Lead, enable, and empower the Pier 400 Operations & Optimization teams, ensuring proper tools and resources are available to meet terminal requirements. Provide insight and direction to the terminal management team with regards to labor relations strategy, operational excellence, and talent development. Oversee analysis of container operations to develop enhancements and simplify processes to ensure safety, improve customer service, and reduce costs. Foster a culture of inclusion, open communication, zero harm, and continuous improvement. Define, develop & execute local strategies for the operational departments, in line with & contributing to the company vision & strategy, within the guidelines of the business plan & budget. Manage the day to day operations of the reporting functions according to the agreed operating principles of the business & relationships with customers. Liase closely with Modernization Project team, Operations Development team, and other critical stakeholders to ensure the ongoing transformation from conventional to modernized operations, carefully ensuring conventional operations team members are adequately trained and supported for success in our new ways of working. Achieve the Company”s and its customer”s expectations with regard to operational efficiency, productivity and reliability. Responsible for setting and achieving the budget for the reporting functions. Ensure that the terminal adheres to AMPT global standards and best practices for container terminal operations, translating to local approach when required. Ensure teamwork across APMT global network to leverage experiences, solicit input and ensure full and effective implementation of best practices. Interpret, implement, and comply with relevant Company, Federal, State, and other Local business requirements. #LI-POST Who we are looking forBased at Pier 400 in the Port of Los Angeles, the Chief Operations Officer is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership across the Los Angeles Terminal focusing on operational processes and performance. This role provides strategic guidance and assistance to the terminal management teams ensuring efficient operations and maximum customer value. The role will require a combination of short-term conventional terminal operations expertise and long-term modernized operations execution. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Education – Bachelor”s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or other relevant field of study required. At least 15 years of experience in a terminal operations management having held executive roles in recognized innovative organizations in the maritime transportation/logistics industry. Leadership -Conveys goals and expectations clearly; takes specific action to foster teamwork and keep people motivated. Is receptive to innovative ideas and suggestions. Thinks strategically and has long term vision. Agility – Ability to create and improve important changes rapidly while bringing a problem-solving mindset to any challenging situation. Prior experience in a fast growth environment with a drive to leverage technology to improve outcomes. Collaboration – Ability to work together across boundaries by using influence and negotiation skills. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
