Responsibilities

UCLA Health now seeks nominations and applications for theExecutive Director, Quality & Patient Safety, UCLA Health System.

Reporting to the Chief Medical andQuality Officer (CMQO) of the UCLA Health System, the Executive Director ofQuality and Patient Safety will develop and implement a comprehensive,strategic plan that will advance patient safety and quality while improvinghealthcare disparities across the continuum of care.

The Executive Director, Quality andPatient Safety will work with clinicians, health system leaders, andmultidisciplinary teams to deliver measurable improvement in 6 areas of patientcare: (1) reducing risk-adjusted mortality (2) improving process and outcomemeasures (3) implementing value-based care redesign (4) enhancing the patientexperiences (5) reducing preventable readmissions and (6) improving patientsafety and infection prevention. The Executive Director, Quality and PatientServices will also manage a team focused on improving clinical quality,clinical outcomes, clinical risk reduction, patient safety, infectionprevention, clinical data management, and external reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of skillsand abilities to successfully manage a complex set of responsibilities in anacademic health setting, including: extensive management experience in clinicalquality management, performance improvement, patient safety, patientexperience, risk management and medical staff peer review; expertise in datamanagement, including interpretation and utilization of statistical and medicaldata; comprehensive knowledge of Joint Commission and/or NCQA accreditation processes;familiarity with national and state quality organizations and constituencies;capacity to effectively and diplomatically lead change management.

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in an acute or ambulatory caresetting, as well as a history of increasingly responsible healthcare leadershipexperience in quality management within a complex environment is preferred.
  • Advanced certification or licensure in process improvement (e.g. Lean SixSigma) desired.
  • CPHQ certification is a plus.
  • Healthcare-related Master’sdegree or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Experienced MD or DO candidates arewelcomed to apply; must be board-certified from a board recognized by theAccreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and eligible for licensurefor practice in the state of California.
