We are growing our team to support various engineering development programs including human space flight missions to the lunar surface and missile defense!
The team seeks a highly talented Chief Engineer to oversee our avionics hardware development for various space and military & aero programs.

As the Chief Engineer, you will lead our hardware and software development throughout the lifecycle process.

This role will provide exceptional oversight to Engineering Team members and cross-functional collaboration with other disciplines such as Program Management, Production, and Operations.

This role will report directly to the Director of Engineering and communicate information such as project status, customer needs, and emerging risks items.
The ideal candidate is an independent worker and team player with a strong excitement to development hardware for aerospace programs.

This includes striving to improve lifecycle processes, drive to meet or exceed customer expectations, and find creative ways to tackle technical challenges.

An effective candidate will be respectful, accountable for their tasks, supportive to the team, and passionate to drive programs with high quality and success.

The candidate will have demonstrated skills including team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and clear flow of information.

This candidate will interface closely with Business Development, Research & Development, Program Management, and Engineering to drive successful development programs and determine new business solutions aligned with customer needs and overall company strategy.
Position Requirements:
Represent the Engineering Team in providing guidance to technical decisions, creating a positive work environment for Team and customers Actively search to find solutions benefitting all stakeholders including Team and customers Promote and emulate culture and leadership aligned with overall company and Engineering department strategy and core values Oversee and provide in-direct oversight for Engineering Team members supporting various development programs with signature authority on development lifecycle gate Develop internal Engineering Team through mentoring and coaching efforts, aligned with overall company strategy and culture Interface between Engineering Team, Program Management, Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads, Production, Quality, Business Development to drive program execution Present weekly overall program status to Director of Engineering including overall program health, upcoming tasks, long-term tasks, top priorities, accomplishments, and forecasted tasks In-direct leadership activities such as employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring, career development, training, identification of specific skills required to execute programs Oversee Risk and Opportunity Management process, escalate emerging risk items to Director of Engineering Lead and present to the customer for development lifecycle milestones such as Systems Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR) Support future technical business development capture activities such as proposal development or customer interfacing aligned with overall company strategy and vision Interface with business development, customers, research and development, and engineering team to determine best path forward to create Provide various technical support to lifecycle development tasks as needed Must be a US person (US Citizen or legal resident of US)
Recommended Experience:
Undergraduate degree in engineering (BS/BEng) or equivalent from an ABET accredited school 15+ years of Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field 10+ years of experience in customer interfacing positions 10+ years of team leadership (direct or in-direct)
Desired Experience:
Graduate degree in engineering (MS/MEng/PhD) or equivalent from an ABET accredited school Leadership training, graduate certificate, graduate degree (MBA) or equivalent NASA, U.S.

Department of Defense (DoD), commercial aerospace, or defense programs experience Project or program management experience including Earned Value Management (EVM) Risk and opportunity managing, tracking, and mitigating experience Solid presentation skills with awareness to tailor technical information to audience including Executive Leadership Strong ability to communicate clear, concise information with customers, team members, and leadership Component, subsystem, or system level testing including shock, vibration, TVAC, humidity, thermal cycle, EMI/EMC, and/or radiation
