Work Hours/Shift: PRN (as needed) You Will Be Responsible For: Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth’s service standards of Keep me Safe, Love Me, Make It Easy and Own it.

The PRN is an “as needed” position that requires flexibility and availability.

Calls to fill shifts in the hospital may come with little notice, and if the situation changes may be cancelled with little notice.

We will strive to maintain communication clearly and directly and with as much notice as is possible as a crucial part of the spiritual care team.

The reliable PRN Chaplain establishes and maintains an availability to respond to needs for pastoral care as called; establishes and maintains punctual work habits.

Exhibits timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits including meal and other breaks.

The PRN Chaplain demonstrates integrity and responsible pastoral ethics in reporting time, communicating with staff and leaders regarding care, and relating to patients, families, and team members.

Attends and participates in mandatory facility-wide and department training/meetings as required (including but not limited to: ALN assigned courses, annual manual safety education, etc.).

Is able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of fire, safety, security, and disaster procedure regulations as presented in orientation, outlined in the safety manual, and as pertains to each work area.

PRN Chaplains may be asked to serve during or immediately following emergent situations – to provide additional pastoral support or recovery time for those engaged in the emergency.

Availability is crucial to the ongoing care of patients, families, and staff during natural and unexpected emergencies.

Contributes to the successful achievement of department-stated goals and objectives and will participate in creating an environment of staff cohesiveness and communication.

Team members must conform to all AdventHealth organizational and departmental policies and procedures including but not limited to: Mission Vision Values Code of Conduct as outlined in the “Guidelines for Employees” handbook Engage the Consumer Respond to inpatient referrals within 24 hours Respond to outpatient referrals within 48 hours Participate in evening and weekend chaplaincy care for inpatient and outpatient referrals Improve People Systems Participate in Leadership Spiritual Formation Lead Clinical Team Spiritual Formation Participate in “Mission-Fit” hiring assessment for campus leaders Participate in New-Employee Orientation Provide Spiritual Support for Campus/Entity Leadership Improve the Product (patient experience) Participate in: 24/7/365 in person care for spiritual wholeness concerns in assigned setting Spiritual care for acute crises including: end of life care, difficult diagnosis, decedent care, family crises, pre-surgical support, etc.

Addressing concerns at time of care transition as referred Coordination of appropriate spiritual support for patient care and team support Coordinate with Mission and Ministry Campus Liaisons Spiritual/mission resources for team members, patients and their families Exhibits knowledge of the levels of growth, development, and skills for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric Expand the Network Welcome and partner in care with community clergy who are providing spiritual care for congregants in the inpatient setting Lead educational events, workshops and conferences with community clergy, local congregations, community events Lower the Cost (Stewardship) Whole person care concerns for patients are addressed Team members experience support and whole person care through increased availability of care Manage Risk Respond to patient/team member whole person care concerns in a timely way Participate in Ethics Consults and Family meetings Chart all care – accurately and in a timely way Qualifications What You Will Need: Personal commitment to God.

Personal integrity and an ability to work under stress.

Ability to effectively relate to and consistently provide professional, meaningful, spiritual care to patients, families and staff from diverse backgrounds with respect and reverence toward individual values and beliefs.

Ability to demonstrate professional pastoral qualities that earn the respect of nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in the clinical context.

Displays a high skill level completing tasks and communicating effectively using Microsoft Office Suite and other healthcare system charting and communications applications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Completed or in progress: Master of Divinity degree, Master of Science in Spiritual Care or graduate level degree (72-hour minimum) in theology, religion or related field.

– Minimum of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education completed, at a center accredited by ACPE, Inc.

PRN
– Level 2
– Minimum of two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education completed, at a center accredited by ACPE, Inc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Completion of a Master of Divinity, Master of Science in Spiritual Care or graduate level degree (72-hour minimum) in theology, religion or related field.

Clinical Pastoral Education Residency or completion of 3 or more units of ACPE, Inc.

accredited CPE Congregational Pastoral leadership LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: In good standing with a recognized faith community LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED: Eligible Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains Ordination, Commissioning or Licensure from a recognized faith group Eligible for Endorsement from recognized faith community Job Summary: Clinically trained minister responsible for providing spiritual care to our primary customers, partners, and team members.

Participates as a member of the healthcare team in evaluating spiritual needs provides one to one, short-term spiritual support to patients, families and care team members in inpatient, outpatient, urgent-care, corporate and other specialized care settings.

Also provides supportive brief spiritual counseling and community referrals, following a comprehensive spiritual wholeness assessment of concerns.

Fosters a sense of mission that enhances a culture of Love, experience of Joy, and a sense of Peace within the hospital and the healthcare team.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The PRN Chaplain is scheduled “as needed” and may be called into work on short notice as a need arises.

Scheduled duty shifts may be cancelled with 12-hours’ notice.
