Certified Nursing Assistant – Med/Surg 2nd Floor

Overview: As a member of the health care team responsible for providing basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team or unit.

Assists patients with activities of daily living and helps to promote a safe, comfortable environment that fosters the physiological and psychosocial well-being of the patient.

Responsibilities: Notifies R.N.

and/or L.V.N.

of relevant changes in the patient’s condition including, but not limited to changes in V.S., level of consciousness and/or pain, breathing pattern, drainage, amount of bleeding, mood, or increase and decrease in capabilities/limitations.

Provides ongoing data collection to the R.N.

and/or L.V.N.

relative to the physiological well-being of the patient.

Shares input from patient and family with the R.N.

and/or L.V.N.

caring for the patient during formulation or revision of the care plan.

Demonstrates awareness of plan of care for the patient.

Reviews and reports care given to the patient with the R.N.

and/or LVN throughout assigned shift.

Qualifications: Recent experience in an acute setting preferred.

Graduate from high school or its equivalent.

Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of California.

Current CPR certification, MAB required.

Strong ability to manage numerous tasks and people at the same time is frequently required to perform the essential functions of this job.

Strong time-management skills are frequently utilized to prioritize tasks that present themselves throughout the course of the shift.

Good interpersonal skills.
