Purpose of the Position: A Certified Nurse Assistant is an individual who provides support services to assist clients with personal, physical mobility and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker or other health care professional. The Certified Nurse Assistant may work in a variety of settings, to include home or schools.

Overtime Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $18.00 – $24.00 /Hr

Depending on Experience:

CNA 3-5 Years $18 – $20

CNA 6-10 Years $20 – $22

CNA 10+ Years $22 – $24

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides services to students who need help with day-to-day activities
  • Demonstrates competence in performing the necessary skills on the plan of care
  • Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and other related support services essential to the clients health
  • Assists with transfers and ambulation
  • Aids teacher in helping student learn and provides feedback to student and supervisors/teachers (if applicable)
  • Provides companionship by reading, listening and talking with client
  • May assist in the supervision of students during recess and lunch periods and accompany students on community experiences
  • Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements
  • Implements behavior management techniques in accordance with the directions given by the supervisor/healthcare practitioner; including reinforcing appropriate behaviors in accordance with plans and discouraging negative behavior, managing time out, or other techniques as directed
  • Appropriately reports changes in client status or as directed by care plan
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families, and employees
  • Adheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • State licensure or certification as required by state and/or program
  • One (1) year relevant experience preferred
  • Current BLS Card
  • Current TB Test
  • Knowledge of child growth and development
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the home, school, local health agency, and other community resources
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes
  • Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, running, carrying, and lifting 50 or more lbs.
  • Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
  • The noise intensity level is moderate to high
