Cargo Security Screener

Job Summary:
Screen cargo in compliance with the regulations set forth by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Package screeners use X-ray technology, Explosive Trace Detection or physical search to ensure that packages being tendered for air transport are clear of any prohibited or dangerous items.
Per TSA requirements, this position requires the successful completion of an initial online training course and On the Job training.

Job Specific Considerations:
Candidates must be able and willing to work in a cargo warehouse with fluctuations in temperature and other working conditions.

Must be willing to operate screening technology (X-ray and Explosive Trace Detection) and in some cases physically screen cargo if needed for alarm resolution.

Must be willing to work in close proximity with an Explosive Detection K9 and K9 handler

Primary Responsibilities:
Screen packages in compliance with all TSA cargo screening protocols and regulations.

Successfully complete all training requirements to become a certified air cargo screener.

This includes Physical Search training and being trained to operate Explosive Trace Detection and X-ray technology.

Using screening technology, identify prohibited or dangerous items being tendered for air transport.

Items include IED’s, weapons, narcotics and others.

Interpret X-ray images to identify prohibited items

Perform alarm resolution on packages that may contain prohibited items

Complete daily electronic and paper logs documenting number of packages screened and objects detected

Calibrate screening equipment daily

Provide reports to management.

Perform weekly screening technology maintenance

Provide detailed weekly reporting of all activity
