Job SummaryThe Batch Plant Operator performs a combination of duties involving general plant maintenance and operation of mobile equipment.
This includes properly loading Ready Mix trucks and interacting with Ready Mix drivers and plant personnel.ResponsibilitiesLoads ready mix trucks with concrete and guides drivers through the plantBatch quality concrete within specifications, bringing any significant variances in the batching to the attention of the Plant SuperintendentCompletes daily service requirements of the plant; helps inspect plant forpreventative maintenance issuesTroubleshoots and resolves maintenance problems to ensure efficient operationsOperates front end loaders and forkliftsPerforms general maintenance of water pumps, conveyor belts and other plant equipmentMaintains inventory of raw materials, parts and toolsMonitors KPIs for dispatchEffectively communicates with customers and other departments of the companyStays well-informed on Quality Control demands on concreteEducationHigh school diploma/GEDRequirements/QualificationsExperience with maintenance, operations, loaders and forkliftsMust provide basic tools such as wrenches, hammers, welding hood and glovesExperience in metal cutting and fabrication, and ability to perform general maintenance on pumps and plant equipmentKnowledgeable in the operation and equipment used of a ready-mix plantVersed in Batch Panel softwareIntermediate skills in Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledgeable in MSHA and OSHA rules and regulationsKnowledge of pH, TSS, TDS and Turbidity limits to meet Department of Ecology standardPhysical requirements: able to lift/move up to 100 lbs., climb up to 24 feet, walk, bend and crouchAble to work in various extreme weather conditionsMay be required to work varying start/stop times and extended hoursCompensationBenefitsAt CalPortland, we’re proud to offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits package that provides health and financial support to our most important resources: our employees.
