**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned. – Manage assigned suppliers, commodities and product categories to ensure the business receives material, parts, assemblies and finished goods and services that meet quality requirements, technical specifications, low cost objectives and delivery expectations.
– Maintain inventory in the business enterprise management system (SAP).
– Maintain supplier diversity program by updating supplier profiles and collect relevant supporting documents.
– Monitor and report on inventory turnover and shrinkage (ie, breakage, yields, product obsolescence) and develop ways optimize inventory, minimize cost while maintaining flexibility in the supply chain.
– Support sourcing and procurement needs driven by new product development programs and sustaining engineering / marketing changes to ensure timely and cost effective implementation that meet established effectivity throughout the supply chain.
– Develop and implement appropriate commodity strategies for sustaining companys short/long-term plans and operational excellence, including identifying, evaluating and developing alternative sources to improve quality, costs and/or delivery.
– Establish metrics and maintain records pertaining to purchased materials and services to control cost, purchased part variance, quality, delivery, logistics and inventory.
– Provide general support for the purchasing department which includes generating and compiling purchasing reports, performing cost-saving analyses, gathering data for ad-hoc projects, and reconciling Accounts Payable invoices.
– Negotiate robust service contracts and supplier agreements to leverage cost and quality services, mitigate supply risks, and build supplier relationships.
– Manage the supplier change notification system to update changes to specifications, assess inventory impact, and monitor change progress that is in line with cGMP standards.
– Conduct risk assessments of critical / complex supply chain and related supply chain elements.
– Maintain current knowledge of regulatory and industry standards.
– Generate thorough written reports, when required, that summarize investigations performed for out-of-specification results or out-of-procedure events.
– Participate in regulatory and internal inspections/audits including providing written responses as applicable for area of responsibility.
– Strict adherence to procedures and practices according to FDA regulations.
– Strong emphasis on documentation according to FDA regulations.
– Adhere to departmental corporate safety policies.
– Trains entry level personnel.
– Performs more complex and advanced job tasks.
– Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Material Science or closely related field is required. APICS or CPIM certification is preferred.
– Minimum of 2 years of related industrial purchasing experience is required. Purchasing experience (chemicals, tubing, filters, packaging, etc.) in a pharmaceutical, GMP, or FDA regulated environment is preferred.
– Requires an in depth understanding of the fundamentals of purchasing, inventory control, and supply chain principles.
– Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of cGMPs, FDA regulations, and industry guidelines.
– Ability to read and understand specification sheets, drawings, regulations (cGMP, QS, ISO) is preferred.
– Expertise in material flow process knowledge (lead time, transit times, 2 tier supply, etc.) and cost drivers is preferred.
– Experience handling strategic sourcing and negotiation of complex business issues and risk assessments is preferred.
– Analytical skills and spreadsheet analysis experience is preferred.
– Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
– Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make structured decisions on a routine basis.
– Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail.
– Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment.
– Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet targeted deadlines.
– Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels in a team environment.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
– Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
– Must be flexible with working hours / shifts in order to accommodate the 24 hour, 7 day plant operation.
– Sound knowledge of ERP/MRP (SAP) systems for planning and purchasing is preferred.
– Ability to lift /move up to 25 pounds.
– Ability to stand for extended periods up to four (4) hours at a time.
– Manual dexterity to perform all job functions.
