Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.

Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications.

The Business Systems Analyst utilizes a combination of professional, business and technical systems knowledge and skills.Essential FunctionsDetermines priorities and schedule for system related work for assigned applications/systems/processes.Identifies business unit needs, risks, and resource constraints and develops communication content for system changes being implemented in production.Obtains and/or creates estimates of hours of development, hours of testing, and other resource requirements for proposed projects.Negotiates with internal client groups, resources providers (such as IT) and other stakeholders schedule and perform work.Provides subject matter expertise on applications, systems and/or processes to internal clients in identifying and resolving, processing/reporting problems in multiple business systems.Plans, manages and may execute testing of application, system and/or process changes/upgrades at key phases of development.Coordinates the work of external venders, end users, systems resources, IT professionals and others as needed to complete valid testing.Formulates solutions/alternatives based on business needs and processing problems across multiple systems and functional areas.

Presents solutions and recommendations to management.Identify field training needs; develop training materials and conduct training sessions.Develops complex reports that retrieve and compile data from multiple applications.

Data may be housed in AAA owned platforms or external ASP’s (application service providers).Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of structure testing methodology and business unit operations typically acquired through two years experience or formal trainingBasic knowledge of either business or systems analysis as well as various tools such as spreadsheets, word processors or data base organizers including formulas and macrosTeam player with proven analytical and writing skills to produce systems development requestsUser level knowledge of all systems developed and supported within the unitAbility to develop an understanding of data relationships among various systems within assigned functional areaWorking knowledge of automated testing tools and other test management applications (i.e., Quality Center for defect management)Detailed technical knowledge of a group of interrelated systems and their business functionsKnowledge of data produced by systems, its uses, sources and meaning for decisions.Ability to run queries across platforms and provide analytics on the resultsExpert knowledge of automated testing tools and defect management tools, including the ability to modify as needed to fit testing effortEducation & Experience / Licenses & CertificationBachelor’s degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience or BSA Certification5 years business systems analysis experience2
