Modis Burbank is seeking an experienced Business Analyst (Project Governance Specialist) in Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY

The Business Analyst (Project Governance Specialist) engages with business units and legal departments to capture requirements and guide them through the firm’s solution request and SDLC processes, in addition to coordinating with various teams such as IT, InfoSec and Vendor Management and enforcing the SDLC process while also making recommendations on improvements to the process.

In this capacity, the Business Analyst (Project Governance Specialist) will:

  • Coordinates with various departments and requestors on new and existing solution intake requests. Clarifies business needs and key requirements. Documents open questions. Ensures that information is clearly documented and follows established standards.
  • Reviews artifacts tied to new requests and provides feedback.
  • Coordinates with other departments and stakeholders as needed.
  • Organizes and leads meetings.
  • Creates and manages SharePoint sites used as a repository for solution and project documentation. Manages document versioning and facilities the capturing of additional information with stakeholders.
  • Communicates regularly with management to ensure they are fully up to date on new developments, issues, etc. Provides reporting on new projects, intake requests and potential issues/constraints.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the business processes, legacy systems and challenges tied to new solution requests.
  • Proactively develops an understanding of high-level capabilities and requirements tied to new solutions.
  • Manages projects as needed.
  • Demonstrates expertise in the firm’s solution intake, SDLC and vendor management processes. Actively looks to make recommendations on ways to improve/refine current processes.
  • Assists leadership with management of the IT project portfolio and portfolio planning.
  • Regularly engages with IT, InfoSec, and Vendor Management in support of new solution requests; and
  • Provides regular reporting and updates to Departments on status of solutions/projects.
  • Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • 2+ working with SharePoint.
  • 3+ years in a Business Analyst or Project manager role.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite; and
  • Atlassian collaboration tools Jira and Confluence.
