DescriptionBurns and McDonnell is seeking to hire a Senior Environmental Engineer to further develop our growing Sustainable Infrastructure practice within our Los Angeles office.
The candidate will lead our delivery for sustainable engineering and design as well as support our design-build capability within the areas of habitat restoration, coastal/estuarine restoration, energy and water conservation systems, and other related projects associated with sustainability and/or climate resiliency.The ideal candidate will:Executes complex assignments requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.May develop and evaluate plans for major projects and prepare construction documents.May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient, or testing is advisable.May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments.Progressive design and project management responsibilities.Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.Some marketing and direct sales responsibilities will be required.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering or equivalent from an accredited program.Minimum 7 years related experience (completion of master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience).Experience in drainage analysis, Stormwater management, water quality treatment, hydraulic/hydrology modeling, coastal engineering, and habitat restoration preferred.Experience in design and construction bid package preparation and engineer of record construction management preferred.Excellent written & verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.Previous consulting experience preferred.
