Summary:

The Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for the integrity of all media servers and technical systems including, for example: non-linear editing, routing, distribution, transport, broadcast LAN, video production switchers and digital signage, scoreboard and video matrix, and IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) systems.

Key Job Factors:

Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electronic, computer based, optical and mechanical broadcasting systems. Repair and maintain all broadcast and video production equipment in emergency and preventative situations. Monitor status of all equipment related to broadcast, presentation, and digital signage systems on the LA Live Campus. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical problems that occur with any of these systems. Repair or replace any defective components associated with this equipment. Maintain an excellent level of operation for all equipment (i.e. very little, to no down time). Perform scheduled maintenance on electronic equipment related to broadcast, presentation, and digital signage systems. Follow and implement equipment manufacture’s recommended scheduled maintenance procedures at recommended intervals. Keep records of completed scheduled maintenance. Examples of scheduled maintenance include replacing/cleaning air filters and inspecting and/or replacing cooling fans. Install software and/or firmware updates as directed by the manufacturer. Perform general cleaning of equipment. Prepare and maintain various technical records and engineering logs pertaining to broadcast equipment performance and discrepancies, per requirements. Inventory and manage spare parts stock. Coordinate and manage parts repair process with equipment manufacturer(s). Assist other broadcast department technicians when necessary. Maintain technical knowledge of arena’s scoreboard and clock systems. Be available to fill the position of Broadcast Technician II if required by the Broadcast Supervisor. Set up and operate various broadcasting equipment such as recording, video and editing equipment; check equipment for operational readiness; provide operational assistance / instruction to others as needed. Provide mentoring and practical technical training to Technician II, Broadcast.

Required

Qualifications:

A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or it’s equivalency. A minimum of 4-6 years of related work experience Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to read, write and speak in English. Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to walk/stand and climb stairs for duration of shift (8 hours). Advanced knowledge of Windows- and Macintosh-based computer operating systems Advanced knowledge of theory of operation of broadcast, presentation, and digital signage systems Advanced practical and theoretical knowledge of fiber optic transmission systems as they relate to broadcast industry Advanced electronic troubleshooting skills Advanced soldering skills to apply safe practices and procedures when extracting and replacing components on printed circuit boards and/or repairing any damage to the boards General knowledge of computer networking Proficiency in the troubleshooting, repair and termination single mode fiber Proficient in the repair of broadcast audio and video cabling Ability to work under pressure to meet broadcast deadlines, make decisions, and take corrective action under tight timelines Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed AEG reserves the right to change or modify the employee’s job description whether orally or in writing, at any time during the employment relationship.
