The Center is focused on bringing cutting edge analysis and insights to our most senior clients.

The Center is focused and organized around the energy transition and the “C-suite time window”, which we define as 3-7 years in the future, the time frame our key clients are primarily focused on in their current positions.The Center is a pivotal part of the BCG Energy Practice in developing and delivering key Seat at the Table events, providing important communication conduits across the energy industry.

The group has had tremendous success and is starting a significant expansion phase, growing the team in several areas.What You’ll DoAs a Project Leader you will play a leading role in growing our capabilities in identifying how clean technologies are evolving in the context of the energy transition.

This critical role will create technology insights, benchmarks, and other tools to provide BCG clients with unique insights on energy transitions and the role both emerging and established clean technologies and enablers.

You will work within the Center for Energy Impact to serve clients, create public facing publications, and participate in creating impactful Seat at the Table events.

On a day-to-day basis, this will translate into:Expert case execution: Manage client facing project teams globally that are working on your area of expertise with 40%-50% of your capacity.

This will allow you to get deeper and up to date insights on the challenges in the sector.Act as a key topic expert for our Energy Practice on Value Creation issues.You will advise clients at the executive level across industries supporting them to improve or transform their understanding of how value creation is changing with the energy transition and achieve excellence in what they do.Intellectual property & product creation: Integrated perspective of the respective roles of different low carbon technologies in achieving decarbonization and driving low carbon growth across the energy and other carbon intensive sectors (including renewables, energy storage, electrification, transmission, CCUS, and hydrogen).Insights on key development trends across low carbon technologies, including assessment of cost evolution and technology maturity.Approaches to build and assess value accretive investment opportunities in low carbon technologies, including integration of different sources of value driven by government policy, corporate commitments (e.G., decarbonization, ESG), and consumers.I mplications for business and operating model choices and prioritization for clients to successfully invest in and scale low carbon technology deployment.Tracking of commercial deployment, investment, and scaling of low carbon technologies, including mapping of major commercial players and their activities.Assessment of the potential impacts and commercial implications from the deployment and scaling of low carbon technologies, including potential disruptions to energy and other commodity markets.Partner with senior CEI members to identify potential new technologies available 3-7+ years from now, with an evaluation on how these may modify business models to monetize.Seat at the Table (SATT) and networks: Internal: Build relationships across the Energy practice as well as other related practices to bring the Best in BCG to clients.

This includes expanding CEI’s footprint of analysis on the ecosystem of companies involved in energy by liaising with other practice areas and experts.

Analyze and codify current low carbon technology analysis (inside and outside BCG) to identify technology areas where CEI should focus.External: Build or expand your existing network with investment analysts, strategic thinkers on the energy transition, policymakers, and others to allow you to understand how value creation is evolving.Strategic thought partnering with the senior members of the Centre for Energy Impact (CEI) team for key regular and new deliverables to brief key Managing Directors for C-level discussions.In concert with CEI senior leaders, create and test options for new delivery mechanisms and SATT options.Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT) The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities.

Experts focus on developing BCG’s thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.What You’ll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)At least 5-10 years of work experience working on energy or low carbon technologies and their adoption in the context of energy transitions.

You can do performance benchmarking of individual technologies and hybrid systems.This can include direct operational or project-based experience from Oil & Gas, Power & Utilities or a supplier in:Business development in low carbon technologiesR& D or technology road mapping/assessmentProduct and commercial developmentExperience in understanding a new technology and its implications, providing realistic understanding of the difficult challenge of moving to clean tech and maintaining a reliable power supply by demand supply balancing.A combination of technical and commercial understanding, with strong analytical skills and a high capacity for conceptual thinking.

Ability to develop leading edge business models as they are be required in the energy transition going forward.

Think through the steps it takes from today’s structures to the target business model, with a perspective on the shareholder value.Deep experience and clear alignment with at least one emerging low carbon technology, and experience analyzing the opportunity space.History of building credibility and relationships with leaders, technical and non-technical people to align on strategy, inspire stakeholders, and execute on a day-to-day basis.Experience working in small teams, with competing focus points.

Proven experience in managing client facing project teams delivering strong customer experiences and managing stakeholder interactions.Advanced quantitative analysis, solid business acumen and problem-solving ability.
