The Payload Mechanical Engineering group is in need of a senior level Payload Mechanical Design Engineer with technical knowledge, leadership and expertise for payload mechanical engineering, CAD design processes and techniques, and Communications Payload and Bus Unit configuration and RF transmission line design and products.
Position Responsibilities Include:Provides oversight, direction, and hands on design to develop, integrate and document the interior satellite payload and bus system requirements to establish the mechanical layout design and RF interconnects.Leads development, maintenance and modification of the interior payload system and component layouts and RF transmission lines, using CREO 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Works under consultative direction.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires an active Top Secret U.S.
Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry3+ years of Satellite payload design3+ years of Creo 3-D Computer Aided Design experience3+ years leading or managing a cross-functional team3+ years of experience with RF (Radio Frequency) theory and application Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience with RF transmission line design, Waveguide and Coax Cables Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.
Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.
Master).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
