To provide coordination of medical and family leave services, including consultative and training services for all of Abbott Laboratories domestic locations.

This role functions as part of the Human Resources team effort to serve the needs of employees, managers/supervisors and safety to effectively coordinate the flow of information and facilitate return to work for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.

This position facilitates the appropriate intervention services through the available disease management programs offered by Abbott’s health and welfare plans.

In addition, this position assists the Manager of the Abbott Leave Program with the development, quality management, and the evaluation of the Leave Programs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities Consult and provide expert guidance to peers, internal and external customers regarding the Abbott Leave programs.

Work independently with minimal need for guidance in the day-to-day operations of managing medical and other leave cases.

Assist in program development, quality management, and the evaluation of medical and other leaves.

Provide leave coordination services for Abbott’s Leave Programs.

Abbott’s Leave Programs include: workers’ compensation leave, paternity leave, adoption leave, family leave of absence, short-term medical leave of absence and long-term disability.

Co-administer with our vendor Abbott’s Leave of Absence programs in compliance with the federal and/or state guidelines and corporate policy.

Oversee the transition of all medical and family leaves to personal leave of absence (PLOA) when appropriate.

Serve as the primary contact for employees, managers/supervisors, and Human Resources to provide leave coordination of Abbott’s leave programs (i.e.

STMLA, EDP, WC, FMLA, AL and PL) and job accommodations (i.e., short and long-term) in compliance with federal an/or state regulatory laws and corporate policy.

Serve as the liaison between Abbott and the Medical Leave Administrator to facilitate return to work, handling of sensitive high-profile cases.

On a daily basis work closely with division management, safety, human resources, employees and Occupational Health Services.

Document all relevant case management tasks/activities in the Abbott Case Management system as directed in the Abbott Leave Program’s standard operating procedures and/or as directed by the Leave Program Manager.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Accountability Timely notification and coordination of medical and family leave information to prevent overpayments that are within the Sr.

Leave Coordinator’s control.

Must comply with the Department of Labor guidelines under the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act to decrease exposure of potential EEOC charges.

Functions independently in leading projects and completing complex tasks.

Job Specifications The following background and skill requirements are preferred: Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) or Master’s degree in related field.

License or recognized certification in rehabilitation counseling, case management, vocational rehabilitation or related field; Minimum of seven years experience in occupational health, administration of family medical leave, case management or related field; Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction; Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills; Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication; Demonstrated ability to handle several complex items concurrently and use sound judgment; Demonstrated knowledge or experience in working with a disability and/or risk management system; Regular attendance required.
